Wyoming artist and former QCT journalist Bethann Garramon Merkle was one of 36 women artists chosen to collaborate on Her Flag, created to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the ratification of the 19th amendment of the United States Constitution, which gave women the right to vote. Her Flag is now on a tour of the 36 American states that voted in 1919 to ratify the amendment.

The QCT’s longtime assignment editor, journalist and copy editor Shirley Nadeau is “showing her stripes” as an inspirational woman in a rather unusual and distinctive place. Nadeau is one of 36 women whose portraits former QCT journalist Bethann Garramon Merkle included on a stripe of a massive American flag (18 feet by 26 feet).
