The longest in Quebec City, the challenging Cap Blanc staircase connecting Rue Champlain to the Plains of Abraham, has a total of 395 steps.

The upper town of Quebec City is surrounded by slate cliffs on the north, east and south sides. These imposing stone walls make it difficult to reach the Plains of Abraham, Rue Saint-Jean or Place d’Armes from the lower town.
