Fighting Irish send five players to annual LHPS All-Star Games

The St. Patrick’s High School Fighting Irish hockey teams will be represented by five players at the annual All-Star games of the Ligue de Hockey Préparatoire Scolaire (LHPS): three Under 17 (U17) major players and two Under 15 (U15) major players.

Hosted by Collège Saint-Hilaire, the 11 All-Star games will be played on Dec. 13, 14, and 15 at the Isatis Sport complex in Saint-Hyacinthe.

Sports briefs: Football, hockey and baseball

On Nov. 22, on the eve of the Vanier Cup, the Réseau du Sport Étudiant du Québec (RSEQ) Québec-Chaudière-Appalaches region held its second “Challenge des Étoiles” for Secondary 3 to 5 football players. The event was held in the Stade Telus on the campus of Université Laval.

On Nov. 30, the stands at Université Laval PEPS were full of fans of the St. Patrick’s High School Fighting Irish. Friends, family members and alumni were dressed in green or wrapped in fleecy green blankets to keep warm as they cheered on their U17 hockey players facing the Athlétiques of the Polyvalente Ancienne-Lorette, ranked second in the Ligue de Hockey Préparatoire Scolaire.

Lions basketball teams can’t stop winning; hockey also on a roll

The CEGEP Champlain–St. Lawrence (SLC) Lions basketball teams, of the Réseau du Sport Étudiant du Québec (RSEQ), have deleted the word “defeat” from their vocabulary, after their resounding victories over the Titans from Cégep Limoilou on Nov. 29.

Fifth-year quarterback Adam Sinagra led the University of Calgary Dinos to a 27-13 win over the Université de Montréal Carabins for the Vanier Cup on Nov. 23 at Université Laval Stade Telus.

Fighting Irish U17 hockey team has a perfect weekend

The St. Patrick’s High School Fighting Irish Under 17 (U17) hockey team had a dream weekend at the Étienne-Desmarteaux Arena in Montreal, coming back with three wins in three games in the Ligue de Hockey Préparatoire Scolaire (LHPS).

Winning is contagious for the SLC Lions teams

The CEGEP Champlain–St. Lawrence Lions teams are having their best month of November as the men’s and women’s basketball teams and the hockey team continue their winning ways.

Both basketball teams were in action on Nov. 23 in Rimouski to play the Cégep de Rimouski Pionniers et Pionnières.

The St. Patrick’s High School Fighting Irish Under 17 (U17) Majors came back from Rimouski with two wins in two games in the Ligue de Hockey Préparatoire Scolaire (LHPS).

On Nov. 15, Jérémy Boudreau, Storm Blackned and Elijah Nuktie each scored one goal, contributing to St. Pat’s 4-3 shootout win over the Sélects from École secondaire Paul-Hubert of Rimouski.

SLC Lions teams enjoy a winning weekend

If you should cross paths with a CEGEP Champlain–St. Lawrence athlete in the city, you might see him or her wearing a big smile. The reason? The Lions sports teams are enjoying a winning month of November.

Rouge et Or basketball season now underway

With the football, soccer, and rugby seasons over, it is now time for basketball at Université Laval.

On Nov. 16, both the women’s and men’s teams had their home openers at the Amphithéâtre Desjardins against the Concordia University Stingers. In front of 1,350 rowdy fans, the Laval teams had great opening games but left disappointed after the second one.
