Scalabrini takes over as manager of the Charlesbourg Alouettes
The winless Charlesbourg Alouettes of the Ligue de Baseball Junior Élite du Québec (LBJEQ) have hired the manager of the Québec Capitales, Patrick Scalabrini, to be at the helm of the team.
The hiring of Scalabrini came after the resignation of Frédéric Lajoie. In his first season as manager of the Alouettes, Lajoie, from Trois-Rivières, did not have one win in nine games.

Diamants, Alouettes play to empty stadiums
The Québec Diamants and the Charlesbourg Alouettes baseball organizations decided to play their games last weekend in front of empty stadiums at Stade Canac and Parc Henri-Casault. The teams played each other on July 24 and July 25, in Charlesbourg and Quebec City respectively.

QMJHL teams to play 60 games in three divisions in 2020-2021
According to several reports, the Quebec Remparts and the other 17 teams of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL) will play a reduced schedule in 2020-2021.
Guillaume Lefrançois of La Presse reports that each team will play 60 games, down from the regular 68 that each club normally plays.

In the early 1910s, the Quebec Bulldogs were the powerhouse team of professional ice hockey, winning the Stanley Cup both in 1912 and 1913. By 1919, however, the Montreal Canadiens were the top team in the new National Hockey League and, in the spring of 1919, they were poised to win the Stanley Cup against the Seattle Metropolitans of the Pacific Coast Hockey Association (PCHA).
Rouge et Or to host three U Sports national championships
The Rouge et Or of Université Laval will have three busy autumns starting in 2021. U Sports confirmed that the university will host the U Sports national cross-country championship in 2021, the women’s national soccer championship in 2022, and the women’s rugby national title in 2023.
CCAA golf event cancelled; Chouinard comes back with Blizzard
The Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) has announced it will follow the lead of U Sports and has cancelled all its fall national championships.
The CCAA made the news public on June 12, and it means there will be no national championship for men’s and women’s soccer, cross-country running, or golf.
Health authorities nix Capitales’ plan for a baseball tournament
The Quebec Capitales’ president, Michel Laplante, officially announced that the plan for a Canadian baseball tournament, co-organized with the Trois-Rivières Aigles, has been vetoed by provincial health authorities.
