Julie Boulianne’s Charlotte and Antoine Bélanger’s Werther embrace tragically in the Opéra de Québec’s production of Jules Massenet’s Werther.

Poor Werther.

The love-lost hero of prolific French composer Jules Massenet’s masterpiece of the same name is, for lack of a more romantic term, crazy for a woman he meets by happenstance and escorts to a ball because her fiancé is out of town. Once her betrothed unexpectedly returns, our hero finds himself hopelessly pining for a shot at wooing her.
