The UNESCO monument stands at the summit of a beautiful garden surrounded by United Nation flags near the Ch√Ęteau Frontenac and the statue of Champlain.

During a recent talk at the Holy Trinity Cathedral, historian David Mendel described the attributes and history of the Old City of Quebec that qualified it to be named as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1985.

Mendel first explained how Samuel de Champlain's settlement of the area in 1608 became a historic milestone in the history of North America.
