The 2008 athlete of the year award was presented to Kathleen Keller.

Kathleen participated in three different disciplines at St. Lawrence during her stay at SLC; Basketball, Soccer as well as Rugby where she was awarded Most Valuable Player for the second consecutive year.  Rugby is a sport in which she excels.  She was selected to be part of the Quebec U19 team many times and has just been selected to be part of the U20 national team.  Next year Kathleen will be playing for the Laval University Rouge et Or Rugby team.  Kathleen is not only an accomplished athlete she is also an artiste.  She is part of a musical group with 4 other people which include both her brothers. They have just recently launched their first album.

The academic honors went to Guillaume Lamarre and Julien Proulx from the college’s golf team.  They were both recently honored with the 2007-08 SIRC-CCAA Academic All Canadian Award. The SIRC-CCAA Academic All Canadian Award is the CCAA’s most prestigious student-athlete award, epitomizing their mandate of recognizing excellence in academics and athletics. To achieve this honor, a student-athlete must be named to his/her respective PCAA All-Star teams (1st and 2nd) in a CCAA Sport, and must achieve a GPA standing of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale or equivalent as defined by his/her institution. This year, a record, 149 student-athletes have achieved combined excellence in collegiate athletics and academics.  Of these 149, nine come the province of Quebec, St. Lawrence is very proud to have two of these nine students in our cegep.
