QHS students, Jonathon Lirette and Samantha Newman give a thumbs up to the promotional poster for the upcoming school musical, Into the Woods by Stephen Sondheim.

Quebec High School Musical Theatre students will be presenting Stephen Sondheim's musical, "Into the Woods," on Friday, April 23.

The play follows the antics well-loved fairytale characters as we learn their secret desires and what they will sacrifice to achieve them: Cinderella (Amanda Sweeney) longs to go to the King's festival; Jack (Louis-Philippe Morin) wishes his cow could produce milk; Jack's mother (Samantha Newman) fantasizes about having more gold and a less foolish son, the Baker (Jonathan Lirette) yearns for a child with his wife (Pascale Lafleur) and Little Red Ridinghood (Sarah Christman) hopes to journey safely into the woods to see her sick Grandmother (Kathleen Vosteen).

What begins as a simple wish for the characters results in a journey that brings them to confront some of life's most difficult challenges, thereby changing them forever.
The show follows characters as they make their way through the woods in this adaptation of the classic fairy tale.

The play will be presented at Salle-Jean-Paul-Tardif, 950 avenue Joffre, at 7:30 pm, April 23. Tickets are $10 for adults, $6 for students and seniors. Children under six are admitted free of charge. Tickets may be reserved online at [email protected] or purchased at Quebec High School or at the door.
