Rais Bhuiyan told his remarkable story to students and teachers at C├ęgep de Sainte-Foy last week. From the left are teachers Carol Ann Martz, Sarah Jane Dutil, Erika Richards, Bhuiyan, U.S. Consul General in Quebec City Allison Areias-Vogel and student Thomas Giroux.

Rais Bhuiyan, a young Muslim immigrant who had trained as a military pilot in his native Bangladesh, was working in a Dallas, Texas, convenience store 10 days after the 9/11 attacks. A man with a shotgun entered, asked him where he was from, and before Bhuiyan could reply, blasted him in the face.
