Fire prevention is high priority at Jeffery Hale – Saint Brigid’s

After the tragic fire in L’Isle-Verte, some residents and their families may be worried about this type of event happening at the Jeffery Hale Hospital or Saint Brigid's Home.

We would like to take a moment to reassure them.  Jeffery Hale – Saint Brigid’s (JHSB) is a public institution and, as such, both of our residences meet the highest fire prevention standards.

Our buildings are made of concrete on a metal structure. In both locations, residents' rooms are equipped with sprinklers. There are also smoke and heat detectors throughout the premises and all of these detectors are directly connected to high-tech fire alarm panels.  These panels are linked to the Protectron monitoring centre, which ensures communication with the municipal fire department.

In addition, residents of Saint Brigid’s will be reassured knowing that the McGreevy Manor next door is also a modern, high-grade construction, and is fully equipped with detectors and sprinklers.  A fireproof door located in the corridor between the two buildings automatically closes when an alarm is activated.

As we all know, no one is ever completely immune from all forms of risk. This is why our establishment has an Operation Plan for Emergency Measure, outlining everyone’s role in case of an emergency. It is kept up to date and made available throughout JHSB.

Please be assured that at JHSB, the safety of residents and other clients is a top priority.  We have done, and will continue to do, everything in our power to ensure safety and peace of mind.
