Conservatory of Music Concerts at Chalmers-Wesley Church

The Conservatory of Music of Québec has recently announced its concert series for the 2009-2010 season, the first of which was held at the Palais Montcalm on October 17. Many other concerts follow throughout the year at various locations, among them, Chalmers-Wesley United Church, located at 78 rue Sainte-Ursule, in Old Quebec.


A Concert des Professeurs, will be held on Thursday, November 19 at 8:00pm. There is no charge but a free-will offering will be received at the door to benefit the Fondation du Conservatoire de musique et d’art dramatique du Québec.


On Sunday, November 29, at 8:00pm, the Choir of the Conservatory of Music directed by Louise DeLisle Bouchard, and the Orchestra of the Conservatory of Music directed by Gilles Auger, present a concert which will include extracts from the Oratorio de Noël by J. S. Bach, and Musique d’église pour voix d’enfants by Felix Mendelssohn. There is a $5.00 admission fee for this concert which is payable at the door.


On Sunday, December 6, at 8:00pm Andrew Clayden, trombone professor of the Conservatory, is proud to present “Noël en Trombone,” an all-trombone evening with more than 20 trombonists on stage. Admission of $5 payable at the door.


On Thursday, December 15, at 8:00pm, there will be a concert by the Chamber Music class under the direction of Darren Lowe and Guy Carmichael.


Throughout January, February and March 2010, the series “À Votre Portée” will take place exclusively at Chalmers-Wesley church. These Thursday evening concerts start at 7:30pm and there is no admission fee. You are invited to come and hear the performances of students of the most advanced level of the Conservatory in one of the most magnificent historic buildings in Old Quebec on the following dates: January 21 – bass and tuba, February 11 – flute and viola, February 25 – tuba and flute, March 11 – French horn and violin, March 25 – trombone and voice.


On Monday, February 22, at 8:00pm, students of Denis Bélisle’s organ class will perform at Chalmers-Wesley as part of the Concerts de Classe series.


A Concert des Professeurs, will be held on Thursday, March 18, at 8:00pm.
