Saturday, June 16 – Walk for ALS (amyotrophic lateral sclerosis) also known as Lou Gehrig’s disease after the great New York Yankees baseball player who died from the disease in 1939. The fundraising walk begins at 12:30 p.m. with registration at the Club Social Victoria, 170 Rue Cardinal-Maurice-Roy next to the Stade Canac. Sunday, June 17, at 7:40 a.m. – 10th annual Quebec City Staircase Challenge​: In addition to the Oasis 19K (some 3,000 steps and 40 staircases) and 13K race courses, two new races, the 8K and 2K kids’ race, will allow runners and walkers of all levels to enjoy a great staircase race. June 16 and 17 – As part of Canada Garden Days, the Festival d’Art au Jardin will be held at the Parc de la Chute-Montmorency, 2490 avenue Royale. An all-day event at the park overlooking Montmorency Falls, 15 minutes from downtown Quebec City. Monday, June 18 at 7:30 p.m. – Irish Heritage Quebec meet in McMahon Hall of St. Patrick’s Church, 1145 Avenue De Salaberry. John O’Connor will give a presentation on the Quebec Ship Laborers’ Benevolent Society and its role in allowing the Irish community to consolidate its presence in Quebec City.
