Wave a flag on July 1 to celebrate the 153rd birthday of Canada. The British North America Act took effect on July 1, 1867 (it is now called the Constitution Act). The Act united the three separate colonies of the Province of Canada, Nova Scotia, and New Brunswick into a single Dominion within the British Empire called Canada.

Canada Day will feel different this year, with no large gatherings on the Plains of Abraham, no giant cake, compliments of the Ch√Ęteau Frontenac, served on Dufferin Terrace, and no fireworks! Local notables can enjoy the novelty of sitting on deck chairs in their own yards, watching their children or grandchildren run through the sprinkler.
