A big condo in a small neighbourhood

A group of Sillery residents may have lost the fight to stop construction of this four-unit condominium in their neighbourhood, but they haven’t given up the battle to protect their community’s architectural heritage. Peter Beattie, a resident of rue L-H Lafontaine whose house is only two doors down from the condo project, said, "It's terrible. They never should have allowed them to build that monstrosity."

A group of 13 Sillery residents were so concerned about the construction of a four-unit condominium building on rue Louis-Hippolyte-Lafontaine that they took the Ville de Québec and the builder to court. The residents consider the large, modern building to be totally out of character with the architectural and historical aspects of their neighbourhood in Sillery.
