Les Productions In Musica, in collaboration with the Orchestre Philharmonique de la Relève du Québec, is giving a benefit concert for Aymen Derbali on Sunday, March 11, at 3 p.m. at the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity, 31 rue des Jardins in Old Quebec. Admission is free; voluntary donations will be gathered.

Paralyzed as a result of his injuries while heroically trying to help his companions during the tragic shooting at the Centre culturel islamique de Québec in January 2017, Derbali no longer has the use of his legs. He cannot return to his home with his wife and their three children, because the residence is not adapted for his needs.

The funds raised during the concert will be used to make the changes necessary to make Derbali’s daily life easier.

Many local artists will gather on stage to voluntarily give of their musical talents to support this cause. An orchestra composed of professional and pre-professional musicians will perform Beethoven’s Heroic or Eroica Symphony, directed by Béatrice Madeleine Cadrin, the instigator of this event.

Director Marie-France Mathieu, sopranos Sandra Bender and Jessica Latouche, singer Zakia Zoukri, pianist Samuel Croteau, the choir of the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity, members of the Jeux d’archets Suzuki violin ensemble and their director Mélanie Grenier will also participate.
