Shannon Fire Department Seeks Volunteers

The Shannon Volunteer Fire Department is looking for people who would like to accomplish new challenges and extend their horizons and experiences.

The department is seeking volunteer firefighters/medical first responders. An accredited course recognized by the École nationale des pompiers du Québec will be given to new volunteers by qualified teachers.

Lions send ‘big message’ with two victories for a 3-0 start to season

The Champlain St. Lawrence men's soccer team is off to a strong start, with weekend wins over CEGEP Rimouski and CEGEP Limoilou that raised its record to 3-0.

Sept. 12, against Limoilou, the Lions took a hard-fought 2-1 win on goals in either half from Mathieu "Betchi" Nkodo and Charles-Hugo Lajeunesse-Langlois, split by a Limoilou penalty kick.

Holland School Birthday Celebration

Holland School's 50th birthday party and reunion is less than two weeks away. An Open House, Dinner and Dance is scheduled at the school on Saturday, October 2, beginning at 5 p.m. Former teachers, students, parents or others with a connection to the school are invited to attend.

Rally ‘round the Naval Museum at Point à Carcy

The 6th annual Rallye des Contreforts, organized by the Naval Museum in Quebec City in conjunction with Les Journées de la culture, will take place this weekend, September 24 to 26.

The theme of this year's rally is the 100th Anniversary of the Canadian Navy.

The room full of Quebec High School students giggled as they were instructed to simulate the droning sound of bagpipes, to which the singer then added a lilting soprano melody.

Quebec High School was buzzing Saturday, both inside and out, as the Voice Of English-speaking Quebec's Fall Fest took center stage.

Ed Sweeney, one of the event's organizers at QHS, said the annual event had been been dormant for a number of years before being revived this year.
