Celtic Festival ends with Grand Parade and Boar Roast Feast

The 7th annual Quebec Celtic Festival, which ran from August 30 to September 16, culminated over the weekend with a grand parade on Saturday and a feast on Sunday. Over 50 activities related to the culture and history of Celtic people - including the Scottish, Irish, Manx, Bretons, Welsh and Cornish - were spread out over more than two weeks.

CQSB announces extension to Everest Elementary School

The Council of Commissioners of the Central Québec School Board is pleased to announce that the Ministère de l'Éducation, du Loisir et du Sport (MELS) has granted permission and funding for an extension to Everest Elementary School.

Central Québec School Board purchased, what was then l'École Nouvelle-Vie from the Commission scolaire de la Capitale, on February 21, 2003.

St. Lawrence College Lady Lions AA soccer team wins season opener

On Friday, September 7, the St. Lawrence College Lady Lions started off the season on the right foot by winning their season opener 3-2 against Cégep Sainte-Foy. Eighteen girls suited up and fought hard on the field which resulted in spectacular plays as well as important saves by goalie Virginie Côté.

Wolfe-Montcalm monument honours the fallen commanders of the Battle of the Plains of Abraham

Thursday, September 13, was the 253rd anniversary of the 1759 Battle of the Plains of Abraham. I greatly admire the Latin inscription (only eight words) on the Wolfe-Montcalm monument in the Jardin des Gouverneurs behind the Chateau Frontenac:

Mortem Virtus Communem, Famam Historia, Monumentum Posteritas Dedit

Terry Fox Run will have a deeper meaning at QHS this year

Most Canadians do not have to look far to realize they know someone that has cancer, battled cancer or lost a loved one to cancer. We lived this reality here at Quebec High School over the last three years as student, Jakob Drolet, was diagnosed with leukemia. He was fighting the disease prior to coming into our school community.

St. Vincent Elementary School gets a new backyard of fun!

Students at St. Vincent Elementary School had an extra reason to ask, "When's recess?" this year as they met their new teachers and reunited with old friends on the first day of school.
