Michael Matthews wins the Grand Prix Cycliste de Québec and Montreal

On Sept. 7, 144 cyclists raced through Quebec City’s winding streets and across the Plains of Abraham for the ninth Grand Prix Cycliste de Québec (GCPQ), one of only two UCI WorldTour stops (along with Montreal two days later) in the Americas. 

Festin celtique a delicious treat at the Domaine de Maizerets

The Festival Celtique de Québec got off to a great start on Sept. 7 at the Domaine de Maizerets where, for the first time in the 13-year history of the event, a Festin celtique (Celtic feast) was held.

Trying to tame the invasive horsetail

The horsetail plant (Equisetum, from the Latin words equus for horse and seta for tail) is one of the oldest plants in the world. The ancestors of today’s horsetail were present during the Carboniferous Period. Much taller during that era, this living fossil was said to attain a height of 30 metres or more and was certainly one of the dominant plants of the prehistoric world.

Rouge et Or football defence shines in win over Carabins

The much-anticipated first meeting of the season between the Université Laval Rouge et Or and the Université de Montréal Carabins was held on Sept. 8 at the CEPSUM stadium in Montreal.

After the Rouge et Or offence shredded the Concordia University Stingers a week earlier, it was the defence who shined in the 12-7 win over the Carabins.
