Pumpkins, books and book lovers at the Morrin Center

Crunchy, colourful leaves danced along the sidewalk in front of the Morrin Centre on a fresh, fall morning. Inside the library, children settled in for storytime. This week’s pick-a-book theme was all about pumpkins. Volunteers read a Halloween book to the eager little readers, adding sound effects and gestures to bring the story to life and capture the young audience.

The Mullin family angel is returned to St. Patrick’s Cemetery

The stone angel that once adorned the Mullin family gravesite is back at St. Patrick’s Cemetery. After being meticulously cleaned and displayed in the Nanotechnology: The Invisible Revolution exhibit at the Musée de la Civilisation from March 2016 to mid-October 2017, the sculpture was returned on October 19.

Christians and Muslims gather in mutual friendship

Following the atrocious shooting of six men in the Grande Mosquée de Québec late last January, there was an outpouring of sympathy and support from the people of Quebec City. Various rallies and religious services were held and among them was one at the Anglican Cathedral of the Holy Trinity in Old Quebec.

A walk in the park on a beautiful autumn day

A nice way to celebrate this splendid autumn weather is by talking a stroll in one of Quebec City’s beautiful parks. With a very practical map I printed, which informs us where free parking spaces are, the bus routes and other significant data, I was ready to start my adventure. 

Laval shut out Montreal 22-0

This was a meeting between two of the best football teams in the country. Before the game on October 21, the Université de Montréal Carabins were ranked number one in Canada and the Université Laval Rouge et Or was third.

Irish split a pair in LHPS action, Lions win in OT

St. Patrick’s High School Fighting Irish hockey team was back in action last weekend, with two games in the Ligue de Hockey de Préparations Scolaire (LHPS). St. Pat’s won their first game 5-1 against the Collège Jésus-Marie Lynx; but were blanked 6-0 against l’Ancienne-Lorette Athlétiques.
