Québec 21’s Gosselin brings ADQ approach to city politics

If you’re of a certain age, a famous movie quote may come to mind in contemplating a new development on the Quebec City municipal scene: “Who are those guys?” While the quip comes from 1969’s Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, those words could be dogging incumbent Mayor Régis Labeaume and Démocratie Québec leader Anne Guérette.

Passed away peacefully at the age of 81 at the Jeffery Hale Hospital in Quebec City on Saturday October 7, 2017.
A longtime resident of Lac-Beauport, he was predeceased by his wife Gloria Bignell (Després) and his sisters Joan and Judy.

Community groups react to ministerial appointment

English-speaking community groups in the Quebec City area and the Eastern Townships greeted the long-awaited news of the appointment of a provincial minister for relations with the anglophone community with broad optimism late last week.

For Brigitte Wellens, director of Voice of English-speaking Quebec, the appointment of Minister Kathleen Weil is “a long time coming.

St. Lawrence College rugby and hockey news

With the regular season finished, the Cégep Champlain–St. Lawrence Campus rugby 7s teams are headed to the Réseau du Sport Étudiant du Québec (RSEQ) regional championships.

All matches will be played at Cégep Garneau on October 22, starting at 9 a.m. for rugby 7s and women’s 15s. There is no men’s rugby 15s this year in the northeast division.

QHS Blazers and St. Pat’s Fighting Irish teams in regional action

Quebec High School senior boys and girls soccer teams, and the St. Patrick’s football teams were in action this past weekend (October 14 and 15), along with the new Irish hockey team.

The QHS Blazers were involved in the regional soccer championship at Lac Beauport after finishing the regular season in first place.
