Jack Lavoie & Friends prepare to play Le Pape-Georges

Quebec City singer-songwriter Jack Lavoie and his band, Johnbé and Bassman Dan, are gearing up for another cozy night of music at Le Pape-Georges on Saturday, November 8.

Jack Lavoie and Friends will deliver homegrown acoustic rock, complete with Jack on vocals and guitar, Johnbé on djembe and Dan on bass and ukulele. Settle in before the first set starts at 10 p.m.

Wendake elects new Grand Chief

Wendake has a new Grand Chief. This news is a monumental shift for the Huron-Wendat population, which voted in Konrad Siouï as their new leader. Voting started Friday but conclusive results came in only on Saturday. By the second round of counting ballots, it became clear that the news was real and definitive.

Elizabeth Dallaire resurrects the memory of Rwanda

Quebec City-born Elizabeth Dallaire shared good news from Rwanda with members and friends of Irish Heritage Québec last Monday night in McMahon Hall. She spoke of the resurrection of the central African country after the horrors of the genocide that gripped the tiny nation in 1994. She also talked about her role as UNICEF spokesperson for Schools in Africa.
