Two Quebec City-based marketing mavericks - one in retail, one in music - have teamed up for a cross-country Christmas adventure.

Truckers rally to protest changes to safety regulations

Some 500 truckers, workers and owners of small transport companies from all over Quebec gathered in front of the Quebec National Assembly on Saturday, November 19. Early in the afternoon, a long convoy of semi-tractors without trailers made their way down Grande Allée for over an hour, honking their horns and revving their diesel engines. 

OBITUARY: Robert A. (Bob) Walsh

Robert A. (Bob) Walsh died peacefully at the age of 68 on November 15, 2016, in Montreal, surrounded by family. He leaves behind his partner Maddy Kasirer Walsh, his sister Barbara Snelgrove (Bruce, Greg, Darren), brothers John (Mado, Valerie, Jonathan, Jean Olivier) and Donny (Margie, Nathan, Vanessa), and his daughter Sarah Scott (Olivier, Adrien). 

Les Incomplètes hold a wake in Mount Hermon Cemetery

On the cold, windy, moonlit evening of November 11, a group of brave people entered Mount Hermon Cemetery. There among the tombstones, they encountered performers and empty chairs. For two hours, the local theatre group Les Incomplètes held La Veillée (The Wake), demonstrating the different sides of grief.

Sailors, the Armistice and a railroad car: November 11, 1918

On November 11, while watching the sailors of the Royal Canadian Navy marching at the head of the parade to the Croix du Sacrifice, I was reminded of my visit to the railroad car in France where the signing of the Armistice took place.

It’s off to the Vanier Cup for Laval’s football team

It was supposed to be another nail biter, another close game for the Université Laval Rouge et Or football team in the Uteck Cup. Instead it was over just after the coin toss.

As winter fast approaches, many ski resorts have already held presales of season passes, and many skiers are still making choices. For the second year, the Salon du Ski et des Sports d'hiver was held for skiers who haven't yet decided, at the Cruise Terminal in the Port de Québec from November 18 to 20.  

Rouge et Or top Gaiters, improve to 2-1 on season

The Laval Rouge et Or men's basketball team won their second consecutive game of the season after a decisive 74-64 victory over the Bishop's University Gaiters this past Friday at the PEPS (Pavillon de l'Éducation physique et des sports) at Université Laval.
