Men cater to women at the Salon de la Femme

Females flocked to the Salon de la Femme held at ExpoCité from November 11 to 13 for a chance to win tons of prizes, collect free gifts and samples, and explore brands pertaining to "all things women." 

The vendors at the national women's show represented several categories: fashion, beauty and wellness, travel, the world of taste, and business and career.

Newcomers play games to practise French and English

Voice of English-speaking Quebec is continuously working to devise social activities and events that will be helpful to people who are new to the Quebec City area. Such was the case on November 9, when newcomers met at the Jeffery Hale Pavilion to play games while practising English or French.    

Sharing the gift of giving at the Parade des Jouets

There was no snow on the ground for the 15th annual Parade des Jouets (Toy Parade) although the wind felt cold. Yet an estimated 100,000 generous Quebecers came out in droves to donate cash and new or used toys to the good cause.

Museum-quality music with the Violons du Roy

Leonard Cohen's music has taken him around the world, but in the end, he had to come home.

On the title track of Cohen's spine-tingling final album, You Want It Darker, released three weeks before his death, the 82-year-old singer states unambiguously: "I'm ready, my lord." 

Université Laval national champions in cross-country and women’s soccer

With all eyes on Montreal watching the heated football rivalry between the McGill Carabins and the Université Laval Rouge et Or, other Laval sports teams captured national crowns almost unnoticed. 

In Quebec, the men's cross-country team took its first ever cross-country national championship, running on the Plains of Abraham. 

2016 Christmas card contest in MRC de la Jacques-Cartier

On November 10, the winners of the 16th MRC de la Jacques-Cartier Christmas Card contest were unveiled. With more than 200 participants (up from last year's 146 registrations), the organizers can say that this year's edition was a real success.

Who says autumn is a dull season? Surely not a football fan!

On a cold Sunday afternoon on the Plains of Abraham field, the Fighting Irish of St. Patrick’s High School hosted the Polyvalente Bélanger Patriotes from Saint-Martin in the Beauce for the Consolation Final of the Juniors Division III.
