Give to the Community Christmas Hamper Campaign and help deliver some goodness this holiday season

The 22nd annual Community Christmas Hamper Campaign will soon be underway! From Sunday, Nov. 19, to Saturday, Dec. 10, you can help “deliver some goodness” to less-fortunate families and individuals in the Quebec City region by giving to this wonderful community initiative in any or all of the following ways:

Brunch and Learn: History of Judaism 101

The congregation Beth Israel Ohev Sholem (CBIOS), Quebec City’s oldest Jewish community, offered the first of two lectures of its Brunch and Learn series on Nov. 12. 

The Parade des Jouets, Santa and his elves delight children

Penguins, elves, an ice princess, dancers and Santa Claus marched or floated along the streets of Saint-Sauveur, Saint-Roch and Limoilou. On Nov. 11, children with their Christmas wish-list letters for Old St. Nick and adults with young hearts lined the route for the 16th annual Parade des Jouets. Despite the cold temperatures, everyone was joyful and excited. 

Laval takes 14th Dunsmore Cup with a 25-22 win

It was another ending typical of the matchups between the Université Laval Rouge et Or and the Université de Montréal Carabins. It was a close game throughout the 60 minutes and a nailbiter in the closing seconds.

The Carabins came close to handing Laval its own medicine from the 2016 Dunsmore Cup final, but, at the end, they came up short.

Watch out for flying objects at the second Dodgeball Cup

Balls were flying everywhere in the gymnasium of the Cégep Limoilou sports complex. On Nov. 11 and 12, teams from Ontario, Quebec, Prince Edward Island and Nova Scotia dodged balls at the second annual Quebec Cup hosted by the Ligue de Dodgeball de Québec.

Alérions just too strong for St. Pat’s Juniors

Saturday, Nov. 11 was Remembrance Day throughout the country, but the St. Patrick’s High School Junior football team would probably rather forget the day.

Notre Dame de Paris returns to Quebec in 2018

Luc Plamondon was in Quebec City recently with his friend and fellow composer Richard Cocciante to officially announce the world tour of their internationally renowned musical Notre Dame de Paris that will be performed in five Quebec cities, including at the Grand Théâtre in August 2018.

Tempêtes et Passions season opener celebrates German romanticism

Tempêtes et Passions opened their 2017-2018 season at the Chapel of the Musée de l’Amérique Francophone on Nov. 11. Co-founded by tenor Guy Lessard, Tempêtes et Passions has been known for its quality operatic concerts since 2007.

St. Vincent School opens revamped library

St. Vincent Elementary School officially inaugurated its newly revamped library on Nov. 2. Principal Micheline Gagné invited members of the governing board, the Parent Participation Organization (PPO), the library committee and staff to attend the ribbon-cutting ceremony. This two-year endeavour included new floors, new paint and new furniture, and the results are amazing.
