The debate regarding the lack of francophone, and more specifically Quebec-born, players drafted by the Montreal Canadiens has persisted for quite some time. And, for those who believe that the franchise has a significant responsibility towards the French language and Quebec hockey, this summer has certainly provided fuel to the fire.

H1N1, Hockey and Social Privilege

Last week, the Calgary Flames managed to obtain the much coveted H1N1 vaccine whilst supplies were running short and others more in need were made to wait. After this information became public, national outcry soon ensued. Many pointed to this as another example of celebrities receiving more favourable treatment than the rest of the Canadian populace.
