Campaign begins for organ and tissue donations

To launch the 20th National Organ and Tissue Donation Awareness Week from April 23 to 29, Transplant Québec and the City of Quebec invited citizens to join this year’s organ donor campaign by signing the life-saving Consent to Organ and Tissue Donation Registry and their RAMQ card.

Advice on how to raise bilingual children

Parents curious about language acquisition came out in large numbers to the Jeffery Hale Wellness Centre on April 28 to participate in a talk entitled How to Raise Bilingual Children. Guest speaker speech-language pathologist Geneviève Fily-Paré of the Centre Mosaïque de Québec answered questions in an informal and stimulating discussion.

Valcartier military community thanks its volunteers

On April 28, volunteers and guests were invited to the annual dinner that acknowledges their time and devotion to the Valcartier military community in 2016. Special guests who gathered at the Valcartier Family Centre included General Roméo Dallaire and his wife Elizabeth, a very active volunteer in her own right.

The music world converges on Quebec City for FEQ’s 50th!

One of the greatest rock bands of all time, The Who, and the delightfully original Gorillaz virtual band members will be headlining the 50th Festival d’été de Québec (FEQ) along with Kendrick Lamar, P!nk, Metallica and Muse.

More than 100 new names have been added to the 50 released earlier this year, including pop star Nick Jonas and the Canadian indie rock duo Death from Above 1979.

Veronica Sutcliffe Laverdière

Veronica Sutcliffe Laverdière passed away on April 20, 2017, at Saint Brigid’s Home in Quebec City. She was predeceased by her husband, Raymond Laverdière. Veronica was the daughter of the late Mary Ellen Drinkwater and Joseph Patrick Sutcliffe.
