Philip Almaguer honoured for volunteer work

Every two years, MNA Agnès Maltais pays tribute to volunteers in her Taschereau riding of Quebec City. On April 15, some 150 people gathered in Église Notre-Dame-de-Jacques-Cartier in Saint-Roch to pay tribute to the work of 45 men and women, including Philip Almaguer.

Mathilde Ribordy, a 2016 graduate of Champlain–St. Lawrence’s Science program, will head to Harvard University for the 2016-2017 academic year. 

Birth of baby walrus makes a splash in Quebec City

The Société des Établissements de plein air du Québec (SÉPAQ) and the Aquarium du Québec welcomed a new addition to their walrus family on Friday, May 6. Currently unnamed due to its unknown gender, Baby Walrus was born healthy and without complications, to mama Arnaliaq and proud daddy Boris.

Pierre Falardeau, son of the late Calixte Falardeau and the late Agnès McKenna, and husband of Irene Dugal, died at the CHUL on May 11, 2016, at age 87. He lived in Quebec City.

Going up? … or down…?  While visiting the Centre des Congrès de Québec recently, I spotted a most unusual work of art decorating the ceiling and wall of the stairwell between the main lobby and the street.
