Decision on Shannon’s tainted water hard to swallow

After years of fact-finding, expert analysis, interviews with people affected by TCE-tainted water, and almost a year of federal court proceedings, it would be a huge understatement to say that the citizens of the Municipality of Shannon are "disappointed" with the recent decision handed down by Judge Bernard Godbout.

For the first time in 400 years, the Ursuline museum in the heart of the Old City has opened the convent garden to the public.

The nuns themselves will act as tour guides. The visit begins inside the museum, which has recently been expanded and renovated, with an exhibit called Mémoire d'une maison.

National Aboriginal Day and the 2012 Wendake Pow Wow

Last Thursday, June 21, was the celebration of two events - National Aboriginal Day and the summer solstice in the Northern Hemisphere.

For generations, many aboriginal peoples have celebrated their culture and heritage on or near the summer solstice. In 1982 the Assembly of First Nations called for the creation of June 21 as National Aboriginal Solidarity Day.

Canada Day celebrations

Come and celebrate Canada Day on the Plains of Abraham as well as several other locations around the city. Starting at 12 noon, there will be a Flag-raising ceremony on Dufferin Terrace, followed at 1:00 p.m. by the sharing of the Canada Day birthday cake.

This Sunday, June 24, Mrs. Beatrice (Royle) Gaw, hosted a delightful garden party at which she proudly and happily celebrated a very special birthday surrounded by family and friends from near and far. This charming lady is very involved in her community and her church. She is an active member of a book reading club, and keeps fit by regularly swimming with her Aquarobics group.
