Roller Derby in Beauport a smashing success

The Bardy Arena in Beauport was filled with Roller Derby enthusiasts who watched two amateur matches last Saturday. Some of the stereotypes associated with this colourful contact sport were difficult to set aside when the men’s teams – the Ottawa Slaughter Squad and the Montreal Mont-Royals – came into the arena.

Memorial Vigil commemorates Canada’s mission in Afghanistan

Last Thursday, the final day to see the Afghanistan War Vigil in Quebec City, was besieged with heavy rain. The dismal atmosphere lent to the somber mood of the few visitors. I went to the Vigil with my wife Denyse and my grandson Alexander. Greeting visitors to the memorial wall was Sergeant D’Anjou, originally from Charlesbourg.

Memorial Vigil commemorates Canada’s mission in Afghanistan

Soldiers who had survived the Canadian missions in Afghanistan, family members, ranking officers and other military personnel attended a solemn ceremony held in the Andrée-P.-Boucher building (formerly Sainte-Foy City Hall) on Route de l’Église last Tuesday.

A spectacular inauguration for the new museum of the Royal 22e Régiment

A colourful ceremony took place at the Citadel of Quebec City on May 29. The new Royal 22e Régiment Museum, which recalls 100 years of the history of the regiment, was inaugurated in the presence of veterans, dignitaries and invited guests.
