Passed away at St-Francois d'Assise Hospital on December 23, 2008 at 62 years old. Gloria was the wife of John Goodfellow and she lived in St-Gabriel-de-Valcartier.

Son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Hugh T. Kane (Dorothea Mulroney) and brother of the late Hugh Kane and the late Minerva Kane (late Bernard Theriault).

As fireworks burst overhead a crowd of 25,000 braved the minus-23-degree weather to bid adieu to Quebec’s quadracentennial and welcome in 2009, its 402nd year.

It was with sadness and dismay a few days after Christmas that I was informed that my uncle-in-law Sergeant Gregory John Kruse was killed in action in Afghanistan.

Greg was a brave soldier, a loving husband and father of three girls. He will be sadly missed.

Unpredictable weather confuses humans, not plants

We have been having such strange weather lately it is hard to figure out what outside outfit you should wear, what boots to put on or whether to risk going out in your shoes.

In the middle of December, we had green grass on our front lawn. Admittedly, our house faces south while neighbours facing north were still in their winter mood.

Oxford offers Rhodes Scholar new options in sport and life

Clutching an acceptance letter to one of the world's most prestigious universities last December, Quebec City's 2007 Rhodes Scholar Annick Routhier Labadie expected the best was yet to come for her. The former Université Laval and Seton Hall basketball player has since described the transition to Oxford University's ancient academic culture as "a big leap."

The Fraser Recovery Program loses its best friend

Hazel Breakey dedicated most of her life to helping others and upon learning about the Fraser Recovery Program (FRP) she immediately gave it her full support. The FRP is a charitable, non-profit organization dedicated to helping young people overcome addiction problems. Hazel Ross Breakey passed away at St. Brigid's Home on December 20, 2008.
