Quebec’s coolest fashion show

True to its name, the Fashion Jam held on Friday, January 18, at the Quebec City Convention Center, infused musical threads with fashion trends during the Snowboard Jamboree. Reputed to be the biggest urban fashion show in Canada, it is also now regarded as being at the heart of the fashion world here in Quebec.

Reaching new heights at Big Air

After weeks of speculation over the large ramp that was constructed downtown below Autoroute Dufferin-Montmorency, Big Air finally took place on Saturday January 19. This is an adrenaline fuelled event where individual riders approach a single jump 40 meters high and 100 meters long, performing acrobatic tricks in the air before landing on a slope of around 30 degrees.

Université Laval student Karine Vieux-Fort has always been intrigued by “others,” by people whose experiences are different from hers. That is one reason Vieux-Fort, now working on her doctorate in education, set out to research the experience of native French-speaking high-school graduates who chose to continue their education at English-language CEGEPs like Champlain Regional College.
