Impacts of the Quebec forest fires on air quality in northern New York

In late May 2010, multiple forest fires were burning in southern Quebec. Smoke from these fires significantly reduced the visibility in Quebec City, Montreal, and Ottawa. There were 55 active forest fires reported and some 65,000 ha of forest were consumed in Quebec. Transport of smoke to the northeastern United States occurred on May 31, 2010, with impacts on local air quality.
