The board of trustees of the majestic Église Saint-Jean-Baptiste, built in 1882, announced last week to parishioners that the church would soon be closed to worship. The trustees, with the full agreement of the parish pastoral team and the diocesan authorities, will ask the Archbishop of Quebec, Gérald Cyprien Lacroix, to close the church on Rue Saint-Jean as of Sunday, May 24.
