St. Lawrence Lions hockey results

The St. Lawrence Lions are battling for second place in the RSEQ hockey league and they really needed a victory, and victory there was. With a win of 8 to 2 we can say that the Lions dominated the game against the Collège d’Alma.

Gearing up for Pentathlon des neiges 2013

Cégep Garneau, like other Quebec colleges, is gearing up to go. Where? To the annual Pentathlon des neiges set for February 23 on the Plains of Abraham. The annual event challenge, which will celebrate its first decade in 2014, gets students and teachers competing against other school teams in hopes of winning the Réseau du Sport  Étudiant du Québec (RSEQ) championship banner.

On Saturday, February 9, Muriel Cayouette, an English and Spanish teacher at Collège Mérici, and the five other women on the Female Elite Turf-Latulippe team were busy applying a secret wax formula to the hull of their ice canoe.

Making pancakes is not very complicated. Serving thousands of pancakes from an outdoor kitchen in the dead of winter is a different story. However, that is precisely what the Calgary–Quebec Exchange (QCE) has been doing during Quebec’s Winter Carnival for nearly 60 years. On Saturday, February 9, the CQE carried on their tradition in Place D’Youville.

Pope Benedict XVI renounces the ministry of the Bishop of Rome

Pope Benedict XVI stated on Monday, February 11, that, due to his failing health, he plans to resign from the papal office at the end of February.
The 85-year-old pontiff announced his decision in Latin during a meeting of cardinals. The following is an English translation of his text sent out by the Vatican.

Posing with their new rank badges in hand are Quebec High School Secondary V students Justin Rodrigue (Warrant Officer 2nd class), Alexis Royer (Flight Sergeant) and Steven Duran-Gingras (Flight Sergeant). All three are members of Air Cadet Squadron 629 Kiwanis-Sillery who received their promotions during the Squadron Commandant’s parade held on January 30. Congratulations!

Rugby success in Vegas for St. Lawrence Lion Anne-Laurence Harvey

St. Lawrence Lion, Anne-Laurence Harvey made her first appearance last weekend on the international rugby stage. The Lady Lion was selected to join the Maple Leafs Black (Canada B) team on their stop at the Las Vegas Sevens invitational in Las Vegas.
