QAC launches Memories, Mementos and Magic project

Some 25 former and current members of the Quebec Art Company (QAC) amateur theatre group gathered in the library of the Morrin Centre last Friday evening to reminisce about the dramatic and musical productions they were involved in since the QAC was founded 35 years ago.  

College students show modern fashion in historic hall

Champlain-St. Lawrence students, fashionistas, friends and families filled the Salle des Promotions of the Petit-Séminaire de Québec on April 1 to take in the college’s annual fashion show.

Following cocktails on the upper mezzanine of the hall, guests took their seats along the catwalk on the main floor.  

St. Pat’s Senior Jazz Band visits Monterey, California

St. Patrick’s High School’s Senior Jazz Band and Senior Vocal Ensemble recently performed at the 2017 Next Generation Jazz Festival in Monterey, California. This festival is considered the most prestigious student jazz festival in the world. They were the only Canadian band there this year.

Victory at Vimy 100 years ago

One hundred years ago, from April 9 to 12, Canadian soldiers fought and won the Battle of Vimy Ridge, the most important national event of the First World War.

Coralie Gagné wins the SLC Kick-Start grand prize

Six Champlain-St. Lawrence entrepreneurial students pitched their SLC Kick-Start proposals at the college on March 30.

The students worked for a year under the supervision of Business teacher Karina Brassard. Vying for the program’s grand prize, they presented their ideas to a panel of expert mentors who challenged and evaluated the entrepreneurial endeavours.

Irish boys earn St. Pat’s High a regional basketball banner

The St. Patrick’s High School Fighting Irish capped a successful 2016-17 basketball season when they defeated the Donnacona Diables, 42-34, in the regional Bantam (Benjamin) C2 final, last Saturday, in their home court.

Already regular season champions with a 12-win, two-loss record, the Irish did not have it easy from the get-go.

Spring thaw is prelude to Printemps de la musique

As warmer temperatures begin to thaw the city, the Conseil de la culture des régions de Québec et de Chaudière-Appalaches invite residents of Quebec City to enjoy Printemps de la musique.

From April 15 to 30, the general public can enjoy 30 free concerts in 17 locations, with ensembles playing classics drawn from Beethoven to Piazzolla.
