The typical souvenir picture of bear cubs was taken at the Quebec City Zoo in 1982. Almost thirty years later, Toupie, 30, Mary, 28, and Cody, 27, remain in their original cages secluded from the public.

Who will care for Quebec City’s three bears? The answer is imminent, says Lucie Boulianne, spokesperson for the Société des établissements de plein air du Québec (SÉPAQ), the provincial government agency that owns Quebec City’s three aging bears stranded at the former zoo, which closed in 2006.
