Corporal Nathan Cirillo was slain at the National War Memorial in Ottawa while guarding the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. Two days later, soldiers were back at their post, surrounded by flowers and flags in tribute to Cirillo. People were shocked and horrified this past week by the news that two members of the Canadian Armed Forces had been slain in separate incidents.

On Monday, October 20, 53-year old Warrant Officer Patrice Vincent and another soldier were targeted by a hit-and-run driver in Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu. Vincent later died of his injuries.
