June 18 was a perfect day for a trip to Grosse Île for 58 people from Saint-Gabriel-de-Valcartier as part of their Valcartier Settlement Days activities. John Neilson (centre, raising his top hat), who put out the call for settlers 200 years ago, was present and the whole group delighted in the beautiful day, lovely cruise and magnificent tour of the island.

Two bus loads of hardy travellers from Saint-Gabriel-de-Valcartier, including 239-year-old John Neilson, travelled to Grosse Île and the Irish Memorial National Historic Site on June 18.
