Provincial flags flying at half-mast surround the Cross of Sacrifice on Grande Allée on Remembrance Day as members of the Canadian Armed Forces and the RCMP stood vigil, with heads bowed and rifles reversed.

Across the country, Canadians gathered at war memorials on November 11 in commemoration of the many thousands of soldiers who died while serving their country during the Boer War, the First and Second World Wars, Korea, and Afghanistan. Veterans of the more recent conflicts were also honoured for their courage and service.
