Located in Beauport, Rue Loyola is named for the parish of Saint-Ignace-de-Loyola, where the impressive stone church stands between Rue Renouard and Avenue Saint-Rédempteur.

Rue Loyola is named after the patron saint of the parish where it is located in the Beauport district of Quebec City. Ignatius of Loyola (1491-1556) was the founder of the Compagnie de Jésus (Society of Jesus). A Spanish knight from a Basque noble family, in 1521 Ignatius of Loyola aspired to become an apostle of Christ.
