Director Robert Lepage will attend his first world premiere of his work in his hometown this July 26 with The Tempest. His Act One stage set uses a canvas backdrop of Milan's 18th century Teatro alla Scala as a reminder of the Milanese society from which Prospero has been banned.

The Quebec Opera Festival will again make the city vibrate to the sound of opera music. The second season opens July 25 with Les Violons du Roy's Mozart at the Opera and closes August 5 at the Agora with Quebec tenor Marc Hervieux. In between, there will be many fine opera moments such as free public performances in parks around the city by the Brigade Lyrique.
