The Quebec Art Company will present "Deathtrap" this spring, May 3-6.  Auditions take place this weekend.

After this fall’s major musical production, the Quebec Art Company is returning to a more intimate piece for its spring production – “Deathtrap”, a thriller written by Ira Levin.  Auditions will be held Sunday, January 15, at 3:00pm immediately following the company’s annual general meeting which begins at 1:30pm (both events will take place at Carter Hall, Cathedral of the Holy Trinity, 31 rue des Jardins, Québec).

Nathalie Peron is excited to return to the director’s chair for this intense play that revolves around the devious attempts of a successful playwright to overcome a dry spell that has caused a string of failures and financial worries.  Plans with his wife to take advantage of a young student take, however, a number of unexpected turns.  First performed in 1978, it was nominated for a Tony award and still holds the record for the longest running comedy-thriller on Broadway.  It was quickly adapted as a film starring Christopher Reeve, Michael Caine, and Dyan Cannon.Only a small cast of 3 males (two middle-aged, one young) and 2 females (middle-aged) is required, but as usual the company is also looking for people interested in helping off-stage (set, costume, backstage, publicity, makeup, etc.) and encourages them to come to the auditions as well to learn how they might become involved - for further information contact [email protected]. For those only interested in seeing the show, the dates for the performances are already set for May 3-6 – mark your calendars!
