QHS Blazers: CQSB Boys Basketball Champions

The Quebec High School Blazers boys team won the CQSB 2017 basketball tournament in Shawinigan on February 11. Lucas Beaumont, Sam McCoubrey, Ian Craig, Olivier Pellizzari, Ishmael Gregoire, Yanic Tremblay Gordon and Jordan Drapeau proudly hold the banner. Missing when photo was taken, Vincent Bergeron. Coach and QHS principal Warren Thomas stands behind them.

Skiers fly over jumps and rails at Stoneham

On February 12, Stoneham Mountain Resort welcomed the return of the FIS Freestyle under continuing ideal conditions: a light snowfall, little to no wind and relatively warm weather. A good-sized crowd gathered at the second of two World Cup competitions in the city held over the weekend.

All eyes of the international ski community were on Quebec’s Îlot Fleurie on the evening of February 11. For the first time, skiers joined snowboarders at the 9th edition of the Quebec City Big Air.

The 58th International Pee-Wee Hockey Tournament, underway since February 8, will conclude this upcoming Sunday, February 19, with finals in five different categories.

Université Laval national champions in cross-country and women’s soccer

With all eyes on Montreal watching the heated football rivalry between the McGill Carabins and the Université Laval Rouge et Or, other Laval sports teams captured national crowns almost unnoticed. 

In Quebec, the men's cross-country team took its first ever cross-country national championship, running on the Plains of Abraham. 

A tribute to the Quebec Caribous 40 years later

The Quebec Caribous, the 1975 National Lacrosse League Nations Cup champions, were honoured at a historic media event held at the Hôtel-Musée Premières Nations in Wendake on April 20.
