Passed away peacefully in her 82nd year, surrounded by her family on Wednesday, May 16, 2012 in Barrie, Ontario. Mavis, loving wife of Anton for 53 years, will be fondly remembered by her family and friends. Celebration of Life and interment will be held at St.

Memorial Service for Jack Layton to be held at Chalmers-Wesley United Church

Most of us know that Jack Layton was a Quebec resident from Hudson, but perhaps many of us don’t know that he was also a lifelong member of the United Church of Canada. The Session of Chalmers-Wesley United Church was approached by members of the local New Democratic Party who requested the opportunity to hold a memorial service reflecting Mr. Layton’s own religious background.
