Our guide was a friend, Jean-Maurice Ouellet, a retired Canadian Customs officer. When he was a young boy, Ouellet had the job of climbing the large metal cross above this lookout to change the light bulbs. A view of lake Pohénégamook and the surrounding countryside can be seen in the distance. The town of the same name is at the far end of the lake.

Pohénégamook, with a population of approximately 2,800, is a town on the Canada-United States border in Quebec’s Témiscouata region.
