The brand new Place des Canotiers, on Quebec’s waterfront, replaces a parking lot. It will welcome visitors from land and sea, particularly cruise ship passengers. Cyclists will need to make a detour onto rue Dalhousie since there is no bike path through the space.

Its name recalls the days when canoes were the common mode of transport across le fleuve from Quebec to Lévis, but now the brand new Place des Canotiers public space will welcome passengers from giant cruise ships and other visitors with “a green carpet,” as one port official described it.
