The Outdoor Classroom

There are many reasons why Ste-Foy Elementary school is special. We have so many outstanding qualities and we are a unique school, like no other. I could write pages about every special thing that makes our school wonderful, but I would rather write about one, our outdoor classroom.

The outdoor classroom is a fenced-in area of our school yard. During the warmer seasons it is open for students and teachers to go in. It has many beautiful things to admire or look at, such as the fish in the pond and the flowers in the garden. You could sit in the gazebo, look up at the bat cave, watch all the beautiful birds or see if any animals walked in the sandpit. You could also go into our specialty forests which has trees such as yellow birch, pine, ash, oak, poplar, black cherry and many more.

Students and teachers work hard every year to keep our outdoor classroom clean. During the month of May, we had a yard clean up and my class worked in the outdoor classroom. We planted flowers, raked the leaves and picked up litter. We also filled the bird feeders, cleaned the pond, washed the green houses and got rid of the last mound of snow. All my classmates helped in keeping the outdoor classroom a beautiful place to be.

The students and staff at Ste-Foy Elementary are very lucky to have such an amazing environment. It takes lots of work to maintain, but we have fun doing it and are very proud after the work is done. We are looking forward to having a great end of year and lots of fun in the outdoor classroom.
