Quebec conservatives see anti-union victory in end to lockout -

MONTREAL—Quebec conservatives say a blow has been dealt to the province’s powerful unions with the end of a lockout at Le Journal de Montreal.

Joanne Marcotte, who heads a conservative network in the province, says the lockout has encouraged a more business-friendly attitude in Quebec.

She says the door is open for public sector unions to make bigger concessions.

Workers at the Montreal tabloid voted over the weekend to end the two-year labour dispute.

The offer they accepted will see most of them lose their jobs.
