Halifax Rainmens' roster consisting of 3 former NBA players and one of tallest players in the PBL will face off against the Quebec City Kebs Thursday January 7, 2010. The only two Canadian Teams in the Premier Basketball League (PBL) will play each other for the first time in the 2010 season. The game will be played at Laval University's PEPS Stadium, starting at 7:30pm. The Halifax Rainmen mean business, they have built an impressive team. Halifax will be counting on experienced players like Tony Bennett, who has averaged 26 points per game and Shagari Alleyne (7'3'' center) one of the tallest players in the PBL.

 

The Rainmens' roster also includes 3 ex-NBA players: Desmond Ferguson (6'7'' small forward) played for Portland Traiblazers and Charlotte Bobcats in the 2003-2004 season. Gordon Malone (6'11'' center) drafted by the Minnesota Timberwolves and was the 44th overall pick of 1997 NBA. Finally, John Stickland (6'8'' forward) played briefly for the New York Nicks.

 

"Halifax plays a spectacular offensive game. We will try to counter their attack with a quick defensive equally aggressive offense," states Alejandro Hasbani, Head Coach of Quebec City Kebs.  The Quebec City Kebs will be counting on star players Ryan Holmes, Cordel Jeanty and JP Morin to set the pace for Thursday night's game.  Jonas Pierre will continue to sit out for the next two weeks due to shoulder injuries. 

The Quebec City Kebs sign Jeremy Bell

 

The Quebec City Kebs signed guard Jeremy Bell, 6'1'', 185 lbs. He was awarded  Most Valuable Player (MVP) in the 2007-2008 PBL season playing with Arkansas. Bell ended the season with an average of 21 points and 6.5 rebounds per game. "We are fortunate to have signed him. He had just finished a contract in another league and Ryan Holmes, one of his good friends helped persuade him to join our team," explains Jean-Sebastien Roy, Vice President Marketing Kebs.

Tickets are on sale now at the ticket booth of the Kebs 418-780-4850 or purchase at the door. Ticket pricing is as follows: $5 for children under 12, $10 for students and youth 12 to 17 years and $15 for adults.
