 Rita (Torpey) Butt

Rita (Torpey) Butt, In Richmond Hill Ontario, Oct 26/09, Rita passed away unexpectedly in hospital. She is survived by her loving husband Ron, son Kevin (Robin), daughter Margaret (Kevin Lintott) and five grandchildren. She leaves sisters Janet, Margaret, Patricia - brothers Henry, Dick and Bob. After a "shipboard" romance crossing the Atlantic, Rita and Ron were married in June 1959.
In retirement years Rita was busy speaking to residents of seniors and convalescent Homes, re. Wills, keeping active, and subjects of interest and help to the 60+ groups. She occasionally submitted articles to the QCT and wrote regularly in the New Market and Aurora Era/Banner, Richmond Hill & Thornhill Liberals.
She wrote a few most interesting books with accurate memories and descriptions of her beloved Quebec City, where she spent her formative years. Rita never forgot the wonderful youth we enjoyed there as members of the close knit congregation at St-Patrick's Parish. She describes her books as "no advice, no advocacy, no anger, Just some nice warm feelings and some chuckles".
Rita and Ron travelled enjoying their free years, meeting with joy and appreciation peoples of different countries and cultures. She maintained her youthful attitude toward life, her sense of humour, interest in old and new friends. Trus she dedicated her written memories to -
